Good to know
Frequently asked questions
Is a private guide worth it, compared to a group tour or exploring on my own?
Venice is famously easy to get lost in, and easy to rush through without ever really seeing it. A private guide means no waiting on a group, no straining to hear over a crowd, and a day shaped entirely around what you're curious about. You'll see corners you'd never find alone, and understand the stories behind them. Most guests tell me it's what made Venice feel real rather than overwhelming.
I only have one day in Venice, is a tour still worth it?
Especially then. With limited time, a few hours with a local is the difference between ticking off crowded landmarks and actually understanding the city. I'll help you make the most of your day, balancing the must-sees with the quiet, surprising places most visitors miss.
I've been to Venice before, is there anything new for me?
Plenty. Beyond St. Mark's and the Rialto, Venice hides whole districts most repeat visitors never reach: Cannaregio's quiet canals, Castello's local life, hidden gardens and craft workshops. If you already know the classics, this is where Venice gets really interesting.
Is this suitable for a special occasion, a honeymoon, anniversary, or birthday?
Wonderfully so. A private tour can be shaped into something quietly memorable, a romantic route through the city's most beautiful corners, a surprise for someone you love, or simply an unhurried day to remember. Just tell me the occasion and I'll help make it special.
Will this work for my elderly parents / grandparents?
Yes, and it's one of my favorite things to do. Tours can be arranged at a gentle pace, with routes chosen to suit mobility needs and plenty of time to pause. I've guided guests well into their eighties who wanted to see Venice their way, without the rush.
What makes your tours different from the others?
I live here, I'm a licensed guide, and I keep every tour private and small on purpose, that's slow travel, not a conveyor belt. But mostly it's the stories: the legends, the local anecdotes, the history that turns a beautiful building into a place you'll remember. I want you to leave feeling like you met Venice, not just visited it.
How do I book a tour?
Just send me an email with the tour you'd like, your preferred date and time, and the number of people in your group. I'll get back to you as soon as possible to confirm availability or suggest an alternative time, and to share the payment details. Your booking is confirmed once you receive a confirmation email with your tour voucher.
Are the tours really private?
Yes. Every tour is a private activity for you and your group only, no strangers joining, no fixed crowd to follow. It's just us, at your own pace.
How much do the tours cost?
Tours are priced per group, not per person, starting from €130. The exact price depends on the tour and group size and is confirmed in my offer. Prices don't include admission fees to monuments or museums, unless stated otherwise.
How do I pay?
Payment is made by bank transfer to confirm your booking. Once I receive the payment, you'll get your invoice and your tour voucher with all the details, meeting point, start time, and an emergency contact number.
Which languages do you offer tours in?
Tours are available in German, English, and Italian. Tailor-made tours can also be arranged in Spanish and Russian on request.
Can the tour be adapted for wheelchair users or families with children?
Yes. Many tours can be arranged fully barrier-free, and routes can be adapted for travelers with mobility needs or for families with children. Just let me know when you get in touch, and we'll shape the tour around what works for you.
Can I personalize a tour or request a theme?
Absolutely! That's what I love most. Beyond my listed tours, I can build something around your interests, whether that's history, art, food, or more unusual themes like the courtesans of Venice or the plague. Just tell me what you're curious about.
Where do we meet?
Each tour has its own meeting point, which is listed on your tour voucher along with the start time. If you're ever unsure how to find it, just get in touch before the tour and I'll help.
What happens if I'm running late?
Please arrive about 5 minutes before the start time. If you're delayed, let me know, I'll wait up to 15 minutes past the start time. After that, without word from you, it's counted as a no-show and the tour can't be refunded, so a quick message always helps.
What if the weather is bad, or there's acqua alta (high water)?
Venice tours go ahead in most weather. During high tide, I'll adapt the route where needed, and I'd recommend bringing rubber boots. You can check the forecast in advance via the Hi!Tide app or the City of Venice's tide forecast.
How far in advance should I book?
The earlier the better, especially in high season. Tours are limited in size to keep the slow-travel feel, so popular dates fill up. If a tour looks sold out, message me anyway; I'll always try to find a solution.
